We implemented diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) on a 3T MRI scanner (Trio) and established a clinical DSI tractography protocol enabling fast and accurate data acquisition, reconstruction, visualization and reporting. Currently, we apply this technique to various neurological diseases including brain tumors, amyelotrophic lateral sclerosis, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, multiple sclerosis and stroke. Our goal is to perform a longitudinal study to study the change in tract morphology and diffusion property during disease progression and response to therapy, based on which accurate diagnosis or appropriate decision of treatment can be made early. In addition, DSI is used jointly with functional MRI and transcranial magnetic stimulation to study the structural basis of functional connectivity.
